Noting a gap in the market for a premium digital publication for women players who value skill and style, Amelia launched Tennisette in June 2026.
An estimated 40+ million women worldwide (including 11+ million in the US) play tennis. And the sport is growing: the USTA reports that since 2019, tennis participation in the U.S. increased by 54%, and in 2025, 1.1 million more women took to the court than in 2024.

About Amelia
Amelia began playing tennis at 12 in Brisbane, Australia. After competing throughout high school, she took a two-decade hiatus before rediscovering her love of the game as a busy, 30-something married mother of two, living in Brooklyn, New York. Here she is on NPR's Morning Edition talking about the life-changing experience of returning to tennis in midlife.
Seduced by the addictive combination of athletic and mental challenge plus social benefits, Amelia plays tennis whenever she can (almost always doubles!), is always working on her net game and serve, and loves a vacation that includes tickets to a tennis tournament!
Following successful careers in financial services and nonprofit management, Amelia established the bestselling, cult-favorite Substack newsletter for midlife women, Happy on Purpose, in 2022.
Amelia lives in the bucolic Hudson Valley, north of New York City, with her husband, two children, and a fluffy Havanese pup. When not on the court, she can be found pursuing her other passions: mahjong, reading, watercoloring, entertaining, traveling, and watching quality TV and movies!
